Dear Parents,
February is going to be chock full of fun and excitement! While January was
a mild month temperature-wise, we hope to warm the month of February even
more by recognizing and celebrating God’s love for us and our love for each
other. Our Valentine Parties will be held on Tuesday, February 14th. Check
with your child’s teacher for further information about specific party plans
and for a list of the students in your child’s classroom.
February is also Dental Health Month. We want to send a special thank you to
the team at Georgetown Pediatric Dentistry who will visit with our classes
on Tuesday, February 21st to teach our children about the importance of good
dental hygiene. Thanks for your time and the valuable information, and
special thanks to Ms. Mindy for arranging this for us!
The first day of in-house registration for the upcoming school year is
today. If you wish to register your child for preschool for the 2012/2013
school year, please drop off your registration form and the annual
enrollment fee in Ginny’s office. Open Registration begins on Thursday,
March 1st, and classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Near the end of this month you will be receiving your letter for Grace
Preschool’s Annual Giving Fund. The purpose of our Annual Giving Fund is to
cover the expenses of the preschool that are not covered by tuition and
registration fees. About 80% of our expenses are covered by tuition. The
remaining 20% has to be raised with fundraisers. This letter is sent to
current families, alumni, grandparents, and our church membership. The
preschool’s annual drive is usually our largest fundraiser of the year, and
if every family to whom we sent a letter sends $25, our goal would be
reached. While fundraising is not always a pleasant thing to have to do, it
is unfortunately the only way private schools can continue to offer high
quality education at a reasonable rate and without raising tuition every
year. The school board hopes that you will prayerfully consider your
donation.
On Thursday, March 1st, we will be participating in NEA’s (National
Education Association) “Read Across America Program”. We all know the world
opens up for children who love to read. They can explore far off galaxies or
find adventures and mysteries right next door – all in the pages of a book.
Learning how to read and learning to enjoy reading are keys to success in
school and gateways toward a lifetime filled with imagination. Reading books
and sharing books leads to fully engaged hearts and minds. Therefore, on
March 1st we are looking for volunteer readers to come read a favorite story
to our students. This could be a veterinarian, doctor, high school athlete,
writer, grandmother, waitress, or you! If you or someone you know would like
to give a little time reading to our children, please let your child’s
teacher or Ms. Ginny know. Thanks in advance for your help with this
project.
You will find with this newsletter a directory update sheet. Please keep
this sheet with your directories that went out at the beginning of the
school year.
Book and software orders will be due this month on Thursday, February 16th,
and our monthly fire drill will be held on Thursday, February 23rd.
If you ever order anything online through Amazon, please go through our
church’s website. The preschool receives a percentage of the total sales
placed through the Amazon banner on our church website. Just visit
www.graceepis.org,
and scroll down. On the right-hand side, you will see an “Amazon” link. When
you click on the link, you are taken to the Amazon website home page for
your usual shopping fun! ? Thanks for helping out the preschool!
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to stop by my office
at any time.
Sincerely,
Ginny Herbert
